Small Business Academy – Responding to Solicitations (State of Virginia)
May 28 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (DSBSD) recognizes small businesses need assistance with specific business topics to help them succeed. The Small Business Academy is a series of workshops designed to address your business needs and better equip you to develop and grow your business. DSBSD will collaborate with various small business resource partners to offer Small Business Academy Workshops throughout the state.
The Central / South Region started this monthly series in January with “Branding 101”; February – “Using Social Media to Grow Your Business”; April – “Getting the Most Out of eVa”. The series continues in May with “Responding to Solicitations”.
Responding to Solicitations – Request For Proposals
This “hands-on” workshop will walk you through the process of responding to Request For Proposals (RFP). The state and local governments use RFPs, however, they are also used by the Federal government and private sector companies. Therefore, it is important to understand the process. Once you've mastered the process, you can easily apply it across different venues.
Joanne Tompkins – Program Director, Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). The role of PTAC is to help Virginia businesses identify, compete for, and win government contracts. Joanne is a procurement professional with 40 years of experience in government and private sector purchasing, contracts administration and materials management. She has helped hundreds of businesses compete and win in the Federal space.
